Kegel exercises?
I'm 21 years old, and 12 weeks along with our first. My hubby and I are working hard to make sure we have a healthy pregnancy. I've heard bits and pieces about kegel exercises, but I know very little about them. What are they? What are the benefits of doing them? Thanks for any advice. =)
They are exercise to help strengthen your pelvic muscles. What you do is flex and tighten the muscles you use to pee. Do it slowly - just like any other muscle strengthening activity. You can do sets of how ever many you want as often as you want. There are many benefits to this including less urinary incontinence later in pregnancy and after birth and a stronger pelvic floor to help with child birth. Good luck and congrats.
Also consider doing perineum massage later in pregnancy to help your vagina be more flexible and will decrease the need for an episiotomy during child birth.
